Choosing and switching to a new home phone provider is quick and easy and you could dramatically reduce your bills compared to what they are now. But to help you here a few pointers to check before you do.

Check and make sure you are in a position to switch - you may be locked into a contract with your existing provider. Or perhaps your phone line isn't on a BT network.

Check if you're signed up to a 12 or 18 months deal which may not yet have finnished. You may be charged an exit penalty if you switch before the end of any other agreement. Check your terms and conditions of any contract you may be obligated to before placing an order.

Is your phone provider Virgin Media cable phone? if so you will be unable to switch online. You must have an active BT line to be able to switch.

Are you on an LLU network? If your phone service is from Sky, Talk Talk or Tiscali and your phone line had been local loop unbundled [LLU] you will be unable to switch online.

Have you just moved into the property? If so, you will need to get a landline installed or reconnected.
